FAQs
Do you have questions? We have answers.
These are insurance policies designed for people living outside their country, with cover tailored to their specific needs (Motor, Home, Commercial, Life, Funeral, Pet, Public liability, Health, Repatriation, etc.).
Health Insurance
In Spain, health insurance is mandatory. Furthermore, the local public health system may not cover you if you are not a resident.
Motor Insurance
Compulsory Third-Party Liability insurance is required in Spain, covering up to €70 million for personal injury and €15 million for material damages. Current legislation provides for an additional voluntary liability capital that extends the compulsory insurance limits by €50 million. Many expats opt for extended third-party coverage (compulsory civil liability, voluntary civil liability, fire, theft, glass, and roadside assistance), or fully comprehensive (own vehicle damages).
Home Insurance
It's not mandatory (except in the case of mortgages or rental clauses) but essential to cover your main investment in Spain.
Usual guarantees: Fire, theft, water damage, other damage to the building and contents, public liability, etc.
Life & Repatriation Insurance
These ensure capital upon death, often linked to mortgages.
Insurer with a strong Expat's presence: Reale, Generali, Allianz, Zurich, Admiral, Fidelidade… offer specific repatriation plans.
Civil Liability Insurance
Essential for homes, vehicles, businesses, companies, and pets.
Travel Insurance
Ideal if you travel frequently to your country.
Pet Insurance
Essential insurance for expats with pets: veterinary expenses, civil liability (mandatory for certain breeds and weights), theft, and much more.
Entrepreneurship Insurance
Freelancers or SMEs opt for business or self-employed insurance.
Includes professional liability, equipment, and commercial premises.
Nautical &Special Vehicles Insurance
Boats, jet skis, caravans, microcars... and other more.
Yes, many insurance providers allow you to purchase a policy while already overseas. However, some, particularly for health insurance, may require you to buy it before leaving your home country.
You need it to cover the risks you face in a country different from your country of residence. This gives you the peace of mind that your assets are protected in case of a claim, and through our insurance Broker we can manage everything for you easily and hassle-free.
- No co-payments (100% coverage from day one).
- No waiting periods (no waiting times for services).
- Coverage throughout the entire national territory.
- Coverage equivalent to the Spanish public health system (primary care, specialists, hospitalization, emergencies, etc.).
- Validity for the entire stay (minimum 1 year).
- Travel insurance: Designed for short stays (generally less than 90 days), focusing on medical emergencies.
- Expat insurance: Intended for long-term residency, covering regular medical care, chronic illnesses, maternity, and more.
